Hi, I’m Mary Claire Burks, MA, CCC-SLP, CLC, and the founder of Groove and Grow Baby. I’m passionate about helping babies and their families find their groove when feeding doesn’t go quite as expected.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Lactation Counselor, I take a whole-baby approach to feeding. I work with infants experiencing challenges with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, oral motor skills, milk transfer, feeding endurance, and the transition to solids. I also provide extensive support before and after frenectomy procedures (when recommended by your child’s medical provider), with a focus on helping families understand their baby’s individual needs and build functional feeding skills.

I believe feeding is about so much more than oz transferred. Babies are complex, and feeding can be influenced by oral motor skills, breathing, movement, body tension, coordination, regulation, positioning, digestion, and connection. I consider these pieces together, alongside your child’s development, medical history, and your family’s everyday experiences, to better understand what may be contributing to feeding challenges and assist in determining when collaboration with other medical providers is needed.

At Groove and Grow Baby, I strive to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where parents feel heard, empowered, and confident in understanding their baby’s feeding journey. Whether you’re preparing for your baby’s arrival, navigating breastfeeding or bottle feeding, preparing for or recovering from a frenectomy, or getting ready to introduce solids, I’m here to help you and your baby find your groove and grow together!
